Aberdeen Asset Management PLC is an international investment management group, managing assets of more than £100 billion for both institutions and private individuals from offices around the world.
The company’s private equity division, Aberdeen Asset Managers Private Equity (AAMPE), arranges equity finance for management buy-outs (MBOs), management buy-ins (MBIs), acquisition finance, replacement capital and development capital for private companies throughout the UK. Within AAMPE the national Growth Capital team focuses on investing in smaller UK companies, typically with an enterprise value of less than £15 million, in transactions requiring up to £5 million of equity finance. The Growth Capital team manages over £250m from 19 Funds through its UK network of 7 offices. Investment is not limited to any one sector and Funds under management include the Nova Technology Fund (a dedicated early stage Fund for the Oil and Gas sector) and a growing number of VCTs. AAMPE has a history of investing in successful early stage technology companies and taking these investments through to AiM or trade sale, with 20% of its investment portfolio in the early stage and technology markets.
